Gov. Masari to pay medical bill of 7-yrs-old girl battling kidney failure, 2 others
Governor Aminu Bello Masari has yesterday pledge to sponsor medical bill of 7 years old Umaima battling with kidney failure and one Malama Aina Lawal suffering with breast cancer and Orphan Maryam Lawal.
The governor disclose this while flagging off the 3rd phase distribution of cash assistance to various needy organized by the ministry for women affairs held yesterday at the local government service commission.
He pointed out that women are of larger populace in the state and the victims of larger challenges of life in the society hence the need for them to be empowered.
He however, assured to continue implementing programmes of improving socio-economic wellbeing of women in Katsina state.
Also speaking, the commissioner of women affairs Dr. Badiyya Hassan Mashi stated that the state governor allocated N20 million to the ministry for the 3rd phase of the programme.
She said the beneficiaries include patients, students, victims of flood and fire outbreak, widows, orphans and other less privileged in the state.
“As you know the majority of the beneficiaries are less-privileges which shows that this current administration is for the less privileges especially vulnerable women.
“We decided to embark on this programme so as to empower them by giving them necessary support in anyway possible.
The commissioner stated the actual number of beneficiaries which according her “So far 2000 women befitted from the programme.
In a remark, the permanent secretary of the ministry Alhaji Nasiru Bawale said the state government approved the sum of N3 million on 1st phase of the programme, N5 on the 2nd Phase while N20 million naira on the 3rd phase.
