The purported legal action instituted against Katsina state government by some staff of Local government is nothing but a ploy to distract the state governor Aminu Bello Masari from aggressively pursuing the implementation of his restoration agenda.
A member of the House of Representatives Mansur Ali Mashi in a chat with newsmen said these workers are mainly those that refused to avail themselves during a screening exercise conducted round the 34 local government areas and should have themselves to blame for their predicaments.
According to him, most of them are the privileged children and wives of well do persons who are staying in far away places only collecting salaries and not turning up to work thereby over bloating the payroll’
‘They are based in Lagos, Kaduna and even europe studying only to be collecting salaries and not physically working more or less a ghost’
Mashi was also sepaking against the background of having served in one of the committees that carried out the screening of the workers said, ‘ for days we waited but they failed to come out for fear and realising of the wrong they have been doing all these years long’
“Some of them were receiving salaries but don’t know and were not known by even their unit heads, some were residing outside the state but claimed to be LG workers. And these are the set of people that have the gut to say they are suing government” he added.
He said, ‘the court action is just laughable and dead on arrival as well as another action in futility “.
”Katsina has a workforce of 22, 775 for its 34 council areas who are being paid latest by the 25th of every month noting that the fact that only 610 out of the total workforce claimed they are being owed “showed clearly that something is amidst”. He said
