Sa’idu Barda heads Katsina’s 37-member committee on restructuring

The Katsina State government has inaugurated a 37-member technical  committee on restructuring under former governor Saidu Barda.
Inaugurating the committee, Governor Aminu Masari listed the terms of reference of the committee to include collating and examining views and opinions of the people of the state on the clamour for restructuring of the country.
Others were to come up with a working document expressing the position of the state on issues and to co-opt any individual who might assist in the successful conduct of its assignment.
In another related development, the Katsina State House of Assembly has amended the State Local  Government Law, 2012, by extending the tenure of local government chairmen by one year: from two to three years.

Equally, the assembly has introduced qualification to the power of the governor on appointing a transition committee or sole administrators subject to the confirmation of the house.
This was part of the report submitted to the house by its local government and chieftaincy committee that deliberated on the bill.
