The Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board has advised its pilgrims to be moving in groups in Madina and Makkah to prevent the weak among them against fraudsters.

Alhaji Aminu Sanyina, the board’s coordinator in charge of Madina, gave the advice while addressing the pilgrims at Andulus Dar Salam Hotel, Madina, on Wednesday.

Sanyina said that the call became imperative in view of the number of pilgrims that had been defrauded.

‘’We have a number of reported cases of pilgrims that were defrauded by fraudsters.

‘’Most of the victims were defrauded while in isolation, particularly the elderly ones and those from rural areas.

‘’That is why we always advise pilgrims to be moving in groups to prevent the weak among them from becoming victims of circumstances,’’ he said.

He also warned the pilgrims not to give anybody their Basic Transport Allowance (BTA’S) under whatever circumstances.

The coordinator said that the government spent a lot of funds to enlighten the pilgrims on the performance of the Hajj and how to take care of themselves in the Holy land.

He said that many of the pilgrims became victims of circumstances due to non adherence to such advice.

Sanyina also said that 3,538 of the state’s pilgrims had already left Madina for Makkah where they performed the lesser Hajj, while the remaining 4, 88 would join them in soon.
