Katsina United knocks Wiki Tourist 2-0 at Muhammad Dikko Stadium

Destiny Ashadi -Katsina United midfielder scored his fifth goal of the season vs Wikki

Coach Bauldwin Bazuaye has said he hopes Katsina United finish within the top 10 teams in the NPFL after his team recorded a massive home win over Wikki Tourists to climb to 12th on the table.

First half goals by Chinedu Udechukwu and Destiny Ashadi gave Katsina United vital three points at home at the expense of Wikki Tourists in an NPFL match day 34 fixture.

Katsina United have now shot to 12th position on the league table with 46 points from 34 games.

‘The Chanji Boys’ will now travel to Enugu for a match day 35 to face champions Enugu Rangers.

“Everything is possible, we still have our target of ending the season among the best 10 intact,” he told SCORENigeria

“We’ll continue to fight till the end and prove to everybody that Katsina United are a force to reckon with.

He added: “ I feel very great and delighted for this vital victory. It was not an easy game, but at the end we got the maximum points.

“Due respect to Wikki, they are worthy opponents.

“We had our game plan before the game and I am happy that my players played according to the instructions. Kudos to them.”

Katsina United started the game with a very high intensity as they came out like a house on fire to put the visitors on early pressure.

They mounted a lot of pressure on their opponents, who were jittery, and got two quick shots on target in the first five minutes of the game.

‘The ‘Chanji Boys’ got their first goal on eight minutes from the penalty spot which was brilliantly converted by Chinedu Udechukwu after Frank Kappe was hacked down in the box while running towards a through and decisive pass from Garba Yushau.

Udechukwu has now notched seven goals.

The visitors fought back and almost got the equaliser 15 minutes later through Ajoku Chidiebere, who was set up by Chinedu Onyenolu, but Yinka David did well to parry the powerful strike to safety.

Katsina United then doubled their lead in the 34th minute through Destiny Ashadi, who combined well with Joseph Adah before he beat goalkeeper Emeka Nwabulu.

It was the star midfielder’s fifth goal of the campaign.

Wikki Tourists came back from the break with full determination to reduce the deficit and probably get something from this game, but they were repelled by the resolute defence of Katsina United led by Timothy Danladi and the experienced Kingsley Ajero.

Coach Bala Nikyu made double substitutions and threw more of his attackers into the fray and it almost paid off in the dying minutes of the game after Madu Harrison set up Chukwudi Samuel, but his goal-bound effort crashed against the crossbar.
