Wife of Governor Masari donates sikcle cell drugs to Daura General Hospital


The wife of Katsina state governor, Hajiya Zakiya Masari, has donated sickle-cells drugs to the Daura general Hospital.

Zakiya, who, presented the drugs to the medical director of the hospital, Dr Muhammad Nafiu in Daura on Wednesday, said the drugs were mainly for patients suffering from the skill-cell anemia disease.

She said the drugs were 50 catons which comprised of polic acid, paladrin, paracetamol syrup, vitamin c and Ibu profen tablets.

He said the decision to donate the drugs was borne out of effort to support skill-cells patients with a view to alleviating their sufferings.

She said similar gesture would be extended to the Ingawa general hospital, saying Daura and Ingawa hospitals are the designated skill- cell centers.

She called on the hospital management to ensure that the drugs were given to patients free of charge.

In his remarks,the medical director of Daura general Hospital, Dr Muhammad Nafiu commended the governor’s wife for the gesture.

“The donation is timely and it will go along way in reducing the sufferings of patients living with the disease,”he said.

He said statistical data of the hospital indicated that 400 patients suffering from skill-cell disease were receiving treatment in the hospital.

He said the hospital would make judicious use of the drugs while calling on those suffering from the disease to patronize the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Hajiya Zakiya had also distributed empowerment materials to 80 women in Nasarawa village in Maiadua local government area.

NAN reports that the empowerment items include spaghetti making machines, cartons of soap, 50kg bags of flour and N10,000 cash to each of the beneficiaries.

A cross section of the beneficiaries who spoke at the occasion thanked the governor’s wife for the gesture and promised to make the best use of the items.

Similarly ,the first lady also presented cash donation of N100,000 each to five Da’awah groups in Daura, Baure, Maiadua, Sandamu and Zango local government areas.(NAN)
