Women Affairs Commissioner calls for full domestication of Child Right Act in Katsina state (Photos)

The honorable commissioner state ministry of women affairs Dr. Badiyya Hassan Mashi has called on Katsina state house of assembly to fully domesticate Child Right Acts and heed to Governor Masari’s call to end all forms of violence against children in the state.

Dr. Badiyya Hassan Mashi made the call yesterday when she led- the committee on Child Right Act to Katsina state house of assembly for advocacy visit on domestication of the law.

According to the commissioner, the violation of this Act is responsible for the high rate of child rape, labor and illiteracy that is prevalent among a sizeable population of the children.

She said that children were playing significant roles in the nation’s development and there was the need to secure its future through the domestication and implementation of the act in the state.
“There is urgent need to looked into the alarming rate of children violation especially girls and women which we all have agreed that we will reduce to the barest minimum.’’

The commissioner appealed to the lawmakers “Since the bill is in existence in the national assembly and is in lined with our culture, religion and tradition let it be fully domesticated and sign into law in the state”

She noted that the Child Act Committee was inaugurated and supported by Governor Aminu Bello Masari for his campaigned against violation and abuse of right prevailed on women and children.

Earlier, the chairman of the committee Former Chief Justice Sadiq Abdullahi  Mahuta who spoke extensively on the need to enact Child Right Act bill into law said “All children will benefit from the law if domesticated irrespective of the religion”

He however called on lawmakers to swiftly sign the bill into law for the benefit of children.

In a remark, the acting speaker of the house who received the committee Honorable Dalhatu Shehu assured the committee that the bill be supported by the house and signed into law in due course.
