The Katsina state house of assembly has urged the executive arm of the government to upgrade the comprehensive health centers in Batagarawa and Kusada to general hospitals.
The resolution was reached after unanimous adoption of a joint motion sponsored by Yakubu Sulaiman Tsanni and Abubakar Yahya Kusada.
The sponsors argued that there is an urgent need to upgrade the health centers to the status of general hospital in view of the vast population in their catchment areas.
The lawmakers maintained that the measure will ensured enhanced health care delivery in the areas.
According to the sponsors, communities especially in Kusada local government areas have to trek a long distance to get the health services of general hospital Kankia and Daura.
They also lamented on the poor sanitary condition of the health centers as well as the obsolete healthcare equipment.
The speaker Abubakar Yahya Kusada while announcing the resolution directed the clerk of the house to forward it to the executive arm for further necessary action.
