A standing committee in inter and intra-religious harmony has been inaugurated in Katsina state.
While Inaugurating the committee on behalf of the governor at the state secretariat, the secretary of to the state government Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa said the Katsina government has resolved to maintain the prevailing peace in the state.
He enjoined the members of the committee to be steadfast in other to attain the success and discharge their duties accordingly.
Dr. Inuwa also expressed the state governments confidence in the members to carry out their duties diligently.
“The committee was mainly setup by the state governor to ensure permanent cordial and harmonial relationship among the followers of both Islam and Christianity particularly the indigenous Christians communities in Katsina state.” He said
According to Inuwa, the main task of the committee includes promoting peace among the major religions in the country, recommending the state government on ways to defends peace in the state, spelling unbounding rumors making round in the society that could hamper peace, and also continue to smoothing relationship between the two religion in Nigeria.
Members of the committee includes; the secretary to the state government Dr. Mustapha Inuwa as chairman, The commissioner of Justice Barrister Ahmad El-Manzuk, Commissioner for religious affairs Alhaji Tanimu Audi, representatives of Katsina and Daura Emirate council as well as representative from the different religious faiths.
