The Judicial commission of enquiry constituted and inaugurated by Governor Masari sometime ago with term of reference of investigating money stolen by the previous administration led by Bar. Ibrahim Shema has submitted its report today at Muhammadu Buhari House.

While submitting the report, the committee chairman stated that though they encountered some hitches and difficulties, they were able to finish their work in time. He stated that they collected 13 memos out of which they worked with only 5.

He stated that: “We discovered that N55.9bn was stolen, and Katsina former Governor Shema and some of his aides were culpable in the missing money.”

They then recommended that those found wanting should be made to return the money so as to serve as a deterrent to others.

On his part, Governor Masari thanked the committee for a job well done and also promised to work with there recommendations.

According to him: “We made promise to safeguard the wealth of our subjects, so I will follow all the legal ways possible to see that those found guilty returned the money they stole or face the full wrath of the law.”

He further stated that he will present the report to the next executive council meeting for appropriate action.
