Katsina State government offers automatic employment to 112 female graduates

Another batch of about 112 female graduates of the Female Teachers Trainee Scholarship Scheme, FTTSS designed by UNICEF, DFID in collaboration with the Katsina State government are to get automatic teaching employment.

Katsina Post gathered that, the Chairman, Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Malam Lawal Buhari Daura confirmed the development to Vanguard correspondent on Tuesday.

The SUBEB chairman stated this when he said the state government under the leadership of Governor Aminu Bello Masari has approved the recruitment of the graduands as part of the proposed recruitment of 1900 teachers in the state.

FTTSS was a program designed to increase enrollment of the female child up to National Certificate of Education, NCE after which they are employed and deployed to teach in their various communities.

The SUBEB Chairman said the project is a two way thing as it has helped to address low female child enrollment in schools and at the same time help to address lack of qualified teachers in the rural communities as the candidates upon completion of the NCE program are employed and deployed back to their communities to teach.

Also, Assistant Director, Planning Research and Statistics and UNICEF Desk Officer in SUBEB, Hajia Zainab Garba Kaita said so far the scheme which was put in place in Katsina State since 2008 has a total number of 3096 students enrolled in the program with over 200 employed (112 inclusive) and sent back to their communities to teach.
