Election observers faults INEC on Mashi/Dutsi By-election, says the election was not credible
No few than eight (8) Civil Society organisations and groups accredited by INEC to observe the just concluded 20th Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency By-election in Katsina State stated that the election was not credible.
This was contained in a communique issued by the coalition and gotten by KATSINA POST. In the communique signed by all the eight (8) groups, the made eight (8) key observations regarding the election which includes several irregularities like ballot box snatching, stuffing of ballot papers, intimadation of voter, financial inducement and campaign within the polling units which are all against the electoral law.
According to them, they also observed heavy presence of children/underage within and around the polling units – among others.
Going by the above, the Coalition of the INEC accredited observer groups then concluded that the election was far below electoral and democratic tenents of credible elections.
They further stated in their communique that INEC has once again shown incompetence and partisanship by not minding obvious observed fraud.
The observers then concluded by making bold statement that the ‘election was not in anyway credible or transparent to produce the winner.
