Reports reaching us at KATSINA POST has it that election is already going on smoothly in most of the polling units across Mashi and Dutsi local governments.
Fresh pictures shows electorates tripping in numbers to their polling units to exercise their franchises.
Except for some unconfined news of ballot box snatching and sharing of money by politicians, we will say that the election is by and large going as promised by INEC.
It could be recalled that the independent National Electoral Commission of Katisna state has called on people that will participate in Mashi/Dutsi rerun election to desist from making inciting statement capable of jeopardizing relative peace being enjoyed in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the state’s INEC commissioner Fatima Bashir Kaita which according to her stated clearly that the inciting comments are contrary to section 95 of the electoral act 2010.
The statement however maintained that the commission is determent to maintained a level play ground to all parties involved which will ensured free and fair election on 20thMay, 2017 Mashi/Dutsi by election.
According to the commissioner, the staff of the commission have also been warned to stay away from compromising the electoral rules as all staff founded will be dealt with.
