Katsina emir pleads for railway-line extension as Osinbanjo visits palace

The Emir of Katsina Abdulmumin Kabir Usman has requested for the extension of the proposed new Kaduna-Kano railway line to be extended to Katsina to further boost the socio economic development of the area. Daily trust reports

Usman who was speaking when he received the acting President Professor Yemi Osinbajo at his palace said the extension would provide a platform for opening up the state the more especially in view of its agrarian nature.

He said, Katsina is a peaceful state that accommodates all irrespective of religion or ethniccal differences adding that we are committed to peaceful co existence of Nigeria’

The emir also called for the upgrading of the Umaru Musa Yaradua Airport to serve as a hub for exportation of more food stuff been produce across the state.

In his response, the acting President Osinbajo assured that the raily request will be looked into with a view to seeing to the possible extension.

He said, there is no doubt that Katsina is a home of peace and hospitality noting that President Muhammadu Buhari always preaches for religious tolerance and harmony as well as peaceful co existence among the diverse people of the country.

Adding more light, the Minister of state for Aviation Hadi Siriki informed the emir that the airport is among the six been slated for upgrade by the federal government.
