Katsina state government says it has partnered with the central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under the anchored borrower program for the production of rice, wheat, cotton and tomoto for dry and wet season production. The state deputy who is also the state commissioner of Agriculture and natural resources Alhaji Mannir Yakubu made this know at the launching of twenty-two motor cycles for extension workers and fifteen repaired pickup Hilux for the extension service held at KTARDA headquarters Katsina.

According to him, ten thousand farmers benefitted from rice production program. The deputy governor also stated that the have government have gone a step forward to partner with private sector throughout the grower arrangement for the production of various crops such as soya bean, sorghum, ginger, chili pepper and sugar cane.

He revealed that for the success of program, the katsina state government released two-hundred million naira to cover the cost of logistics, thereby reducing production cost per hector on the farmers.

The deputy governor called on the beneficiaries of both the motorcycles and the Hilux to make used of it prudently for the extension services.

He added that “The state government spent huge sum of money and resources in provision of the vehicles, therefore the issue of mismanagement will not be tolerated.”
