
TROUBLE! Katsina State is under policed, says Police Commissioner
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police Usman Abdullahi stated said that the state has a shortfall of 3,030 personnel which he said is greatly affecting their operations.
KATSINA POST learnt that when the state’s Commissioner was Speaking when he received the Deputy Inspector General of Police on a one-day working visit to the command, Abdullahi said the approved establishment of the command staff strength was put at 8,431.
He, however, said at present the command can only boost of 5,401 officers to man its 3 area commands and 38 police divisions, while cateringfor a population of about 6 million people.
According to Dailytrust, he said, despite this shortcoming, the command has been able to maintain avery low crime profile due to divine intervention and effective proactive measures and improved partnership with stakeholders.
He listed some of the challenges of the command to include lack of Armoured Personnel Carriers, riot equipment, communication gadgets amongst others.
In his remarks, the DIG Dikko assured that the police authority is working assiduously to address it funding problem with the setting up of a Trust fund whose bill is before the National Assembly.
He charged the officers and men of the command to work diligently for theoverall good of the nation.
