Farmers in Batagarawa local government Area has lamented over alleged diversion of the allocated fertilizer for the irrigation farmers in the area by unknown individuals. The spokesman of the Farmers Malam Auwal Abdullahi popularly called Auwal Maikaset who reside in Barawa Ward said “Irrigation Farmers in the area complained that out of the 1760 fertilizer bags allocated to the ward only 502 bags reached to them. The other 1258 bags were lost along the line.”
KATSINA POST also gathered that In view of this, we have go round the farms and various wards for fact findings but only few among the farmer received the product while most of them didn’t not. He said:
“This is deliberate because about 2/3 bags of the allocated fertilizer was missing. And it is an act of theft” He said. The spokesman further stated that “Since the inception of irrigation they haven’t seen any fertilizer of such quality. The fertilizer is qualitative indeed”
He continued “The Government must looked into the situation to find the actual perpetrators of the theft to bring them to justice. These people are the bad eggs of APC, must not tarnish our party.”
When asked who the prime suspects are, he answered; “The officials mandated for the distribution of the fertilizer has a lot of questions to answer, we are suspecting them as those behind the diversion”. He lament
He however appealed to the Deputy governor Alhaji Mannir Yakubu who is the state commissioner of Agriculture to look into the matter to find the actual loss of the other bags of fertilizer.
