KATSINA POST gathered that the new DG/CEO, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) Professor Sani Abubakar from Mashi Local Government of Katsina State has finally took over from the out going head of the parastatal in person of Dr. Anthony Anuforom.
It could be recalled that on January 11, we reported that Four aviation agencies Chief Executive Officers have been sacked by the federal government.
The CEOs affected include, the DG/CEO, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) – Dr. Anthony Anuforom; The Rector/CEO, the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria, Capt. , Samuel Caulcrick; the Commissioner/CEO, the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) Mr. Felix Abali and the Ag. MD/CEO, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Mr. Emmanuel Anasi.
DG NiMet has eight months to leave office as his second tenure expires August 2017; Acting MD NAMA is also retiring as a civil servant so if removed, he will go back as a Director NAMA before retirement; while the Rector NCAT and Commissioner of AIB have both served 2 years and 10 months into their first tenure.
A statement by Alh. Sabiu Zakari, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation on behalf of the Minister of State (Aviation) Sen. Hadi Sirika has announced new appointees which include; Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi, as the new Director-General, Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMeT). He is a Professor of geography with specialty in environmental application of remote sensing, Professor Mashi is currently a Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Abuja.
