Katsina State government has embarked on reopening of nomadic schools affected by activities of cattle rustlers in the state. The affected schools includes Kyabbo Nomadic primary school in Jibia Local government and Hamada Nomadic Primary School in Sabuwa Local Government, Ginginyu Nomadic Primary school and Garin Liman Nomadic Primary school in Batsari Local government area and were all closed down for period of two terms or thereabouts due to high level of insecurity experienced in the areas.

Speaking while reopening one of the schools in Kyabbo village in Jibia Wednesday, Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Lawal Buhari Daura called on the nomads to fight ignorance saying ignorance is responsible for the killings.

He called on the nomads to allow their wards to go to school to acquire both western and Islamic education.

Daura urged the people to be peace loving people saying the government will not tolerate trouble makers who are bent on fermenting trouble and unrest in the state. The Chairman also used the occasion to preach to the nomads to encourage girl child education in their communities to produce female doctors among others who will in turn play vital roles in the society and where necessary while also urging them to also enroll in adult education. “You are not left out, you can engage in adult education and with that you can read because some Quran are written in English. Fight ignorance because ignorance is the root cause of the killings,” Daura stated.
