Fuel Scarcity Hits Katsina

Fuel scarcity has hit Katsina State, forcing many motorists to now patronise “black market”, which sells the commodity at a higher price.

Only RANO fuel station located at WTC junction and Danmarna fuel stations located at the IBB roundabout along Nagogo road had the products on Thursday Punch learnt.

The development has resulted in long queues of vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles in the three fuel stations.

Fuel was still being sold in these stations at N145 per litre, while it sold for N1,000 per gallon or N250 per litre in the black market.

Other fuel stations have either shut their gates or were not selling the product.

A motorist, Ahmed Babangida, said he could not cope with the stress of the queue at the fuel stations selling, hence his decision to patronise the black market.

He said, “I am travelling and only God knows whether I will even get fuel, if I go to the fuel stations selling fuel at the end of the day. So, I am here with Bunburutu to buy just few gallons for the trip.”

There was no official reason for the scarcity yet and no manager or sales assistant seen at the fuel stations were ready to volunteer information.
