Coach Bala Nikyu has blamed a last-minute loss in concentration for Katsina United 1-0 loss at El Kanemi Warriors on Wednesday.
El Kanemi have won their last 14 NPFL matches in Maiduguri, but gallant Katsina United were just a minute away from picking the first draw at this fortress, before substitute Anthony Sunday popped up in dramatic fashion to net the match winner for the home team.
“We almost got our first away point in Maiduguri, a last- minute loss of concentration caused us our first away point,” said coach Bala.
“It was a painful loss because it was almost done and dusted, but at the end we lost. It was a bitter experience, but I believe the boys will learn from this painful defeat.
“They gave a good account of themselves throughout the game, but for that loss of concentration. They thought they had picked the point already before El Kanemi Warriors got the only goal of the match.”
On Sunday, Katsina United will host Akwa United, who are yet to win in the NPFL this season.
