Senator representing Katsina Senatorial zone, Alhaji Umar Kurfi also known as Nzeribe has earmarked N98million Naira for the construction of 10 motorised solar powered boreholes in his constituency.
The personal assistant to the Senator, Alhaji Isma’il Yan’Daki in Katsina state this to newsmen in Katsina while also stating that the boreholes will be situated in 5 local governments under his zone.
Isma’il Yandaki then said this gesture is part of the senator’s effort towards alleviating people’s suffering and also bringing portable drinking water to the door steps of residents.
The PA to the Senator further stated that the boreholes will be situated in Doka and Banye ward in Charanchi LGA, Garin Dutse in Ruma ward and Tulluwa in Madogara ward of Batsari LGA.
The rest includes Radi in Matsai ward and YanDaki ward in Kaita LGA, Shinkafi A ward and Wakilin Yamma wards in Katsina LGA, as when as Yantumaki and Bichi of Danmusa LGA.
Further checks by KATSINA POST reveals that the said money earmarked by the senator is contained in the 2016 constituency project document we got from a well-known civil society organisation called budgIT.
According to the document, N19m has been earmarked for the solar borehole project to be situated at Shinkafi ward of Katsina LGA and that of YanDaki ward of Kaita LGA while N19.5m has been earmarked for the same project in Batsari, Charanchi and DanMusa LGAs.
Calculation of the said amount above is equals to N96.5m as against the N98m stated by the PA to the senator.
