Two separate road accidents in Katsina State have claimed no fewer than 17 lives and left about 10 people with different degrees of injuries.
It has been reported that few days after 13 passengers perished in a fatal accident involving a stationary truck in the fleet of Dangote Group with registration number, TRN130XA, and Volkswagen Golf 111 marked, KAF608XA, along Malumfashi – Dabai Road at Unguwar Iliya in Kafur Local Government Area of the state, another road crash on Thursday at the Federal University town of Dutsin-ma in Dutsin-ma Local Government Area also led to the loss of four lives on the spot.
The victims of the first accident who died in the ill-fated Golf 111 salon were identified as nine ladies, one man, two teenage girls and one young boy, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abdu Bagadawa, told our correspondent in Katsina.
Bagadawa, further confirmed that five women who escaped death in the crash were however rushed to Malumfashi General Hospital by the police Kafur shortly before the arrival of FRSC patrol team.
Giving details of the last Monday’s crash, the FRSC Sector Commander said the Volkswagen Golf driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle following a burst tyre around 3.20 pm and ran into an empty truck parked by the road.
He told our correspondent that he was yet to receive the details of the accident which claimed four lives and left many others by the road with injuries at Dutsin-ma on Thursday.
LEADERSHIP weekend gathered that the tragedy occurred when a J5 bus conveying bags of rice veered off the highway near Ma-Guest House by Dutsin-ma Mega Filing Station along Katsina – Kankara Road.
