Katsina United emerged champions of Nigeria’s second-tier league after defeating Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin 4-2 on penalties.
The Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 4 finale was a game of two halves. The first ended in a barren draw despite the half chances both teams created.
Bassey Effiom of ABS FC sparked up the encounter by firing home the first goal of the game, but Kastina United relentless drive paid off when Abdulwahab Bidemi drew his team level in the 68thminute.
Both teams had chances to win the game in regulation time, but ABS FC would feel hard done by the chance their striker blasted over moments before the final whistle.
Katsina United won the game via penalties 4-2 after normal time ended 1-1.
Meanwhile, Remo Stars claimed the third place trophy after defeating Gombe United 3-1 on penalties
