
Eid – Maulud: Shiites Flood Katsina in style (Photos)
Members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as Shiites on Monday organised a peaceful procession in Katsina metropolis to commemorateEid-Maulud celebrations in Katsina State.
Their activities which resumed two days of public holiday in the state saw the gaily dressed men, women and children marched to Filin Samji Square from Kofar Soro through IBB Way, Tafawa Balewa Way and old Katsina stadium road in the state capital.
In his address to mark the Day, the acting national spiritual leader of the sect, Mallam Yakubu Yahaya, restated the movement’s demand for the release Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky within 45 days beginning from 2nd December, 2016, as handed down in the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Islamic cleric who called for the unity of Muslims in the country also emphasized their demand for the release of Shiite members being held in detention.
Yahaya also stressed that justice should be done in respect of the IMN faithful reportedly slain by army and the police in Zaria and other towns in the country in the interest of peace, equity and fair play.
