JUST IT! Katsina assembly extends investigation of ‘homosexuality case’ to HUK poly

The Katsina State House of Assembly has asked the committee  investigating  sodomy cases at Science and Technical College Ingawa to extend its work to the state-owned Hassan Usman Polytechnic where one of the alleged culprits is currently studying at the institution.

Three students were fingered as ‘principal culprits’ with two of them  already expelled at the college while the third is currently at the polytechnic.

A member of the committee said recommendations were adopted at a closed-door sitting of the House when the report was presented.

In the report, disciplinary action was recommended against any erring  student. It also recommended a sensitization committee all boarding schools to enlighten students on the dangers of homosexuality and lesbianism.

The House committee chairman on Information, Nasiru Yahaya said the report was not yet complete.

It could be recalled that, Katsina state house of assembly on Monday shut it doors to journalist,  islamic religious scholars and other stakeholders who came to witness the presentation of report of the house special committee that investigated the alleged sodomy cases at government technical college Ingawa.

An alleged foiled attempt to rape a junior student by his senior male colleague started the matter which led to dismissal of not less than 25 students at the college.

Daily Trust reports that the committee’s report presentation was shifted twice and when it was finally billed for presentation today, the assembly converged in a committee of a whole to listen to it.

It was gathered that the decision of the assembly to listen to it behind closed doors may be unconnected to its damning findings and unholy revelations.

The matter has created tension and apprehension in the state since it was brought to the house under matter of urgent public attention.
