
Katsina Police arrests 20-year-old armed robber ‘terror’ in KANKARA
THE Police in Katsina are now on the trail of three members of an armed robbery gang which robbed at the Dangote Ginnery Company in Kankara, Katsina State, following the arrest of a member of the gang who owned up to the robbery.
The 20-year-old suspect, Abdullahi Amadu, who was arraigned before a Katsina Chief Magistrate Court on Thursday, said he and the three other members of the gang,allegedly robbed the company last week.
The names of those on the run are given as Nura Kulu, Sada and Umaru.
The police told the court that a manhunt had been launched to arrest the trio while investigation into the robbery operation was still in progress.
The court was told that Abdullahi and the other three suspects allegedly violently robbed one Mukhtar Isah Salawu in his room located within the company premises and dispossessed him of N317,000.00 and two telephone handsets (a Blackberry 9900 and one Techno phone),both valued at N95,000.00.
Security men attached to the company reportedly arrested Abdullahi while the other three escaped.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Kabir Mohammed, pleaded that the case be adjourned to allow for improved investigation, noting that the offence was contrary to Sections 6(b) and 1(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and firearms(Special provision)Act.
