SPORTS: Masari organised Badminton competition in Gov’t House, Suleiman emerges overall winner

Abdurrahman Suleiman  on Sunday night  emerged as the overall winner of the maiden Dallatun Katsina In-house Badminton Competition in Katsina.

Muhammad Buhari House, SGS, KCK and Golden stars participated in the tournament, which was played in three categories – mixed doubles, active doubles and active singles.

Each member of the winning team got N40,000,  while    each  member of the second-placed team bagged N30,000. Each member of the third-placed team went home with N20,000.

The competition was supervised by the badminton coach in the state, Amaraddeen Suleiman.

Governor Aminu  Masari, who  spoke  at the end of the event, announced plans by his administration to revive sports at the grass roots, stressing that schools would be made to organise sports competitions.

Masari promised that sports facilities would be provided for schools, adding that the sports facilities in  Government House would be made available to sports men and women for training.

The governor commended the  Chairman of  the state Badminton Association, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, who is also the Secretary to the State Government, and other officials for the success of the competition.

Inuwa praised Masari for reviving badminton  in the state, adding that  badminton players  from the state would shine at  national competitions due to the governor’s interest in the development of the sport.
