FMC Katsina Boss in trouble over this (Read)
The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee has ordered the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina, Dr Umar Farouk to immediately remit the sum of N2.7 million to the federation account.
The committee said the hospital has no right whatsoever to retain the amount, under its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Chairman of the committee, Rep Kingsley Chinda (PDP, Rivers), who gave the order during a session with the CMD said the committee’s decision was based on report of the Auditor-General of the Federation.
Dr Farouk told the lawmakers that the money was used in paying bills and the purchase of diesel to power equipment at the hospital.
“We know that it is mandatory to remit 25 percent of our earnings into the Consolidated Revenue Account as stipulated by the Act,” he said, adding that they were constrained to use the money for that purpose.
While ruling on the matter, Chinda directed the CMD to present the payment voucher before the committee on November 8.
