Katsina Moves To Discourage Open Defecation
The Katsina State Government on Wednesday moved to discourage open defecation in the state as it presented Certificate of Recognition to communities that discouraged open defecation and effectively maintained public toilets in their domains.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari, who personally presented the certificates to the communities in Katsina, said if people could say no to open defecation, many of the airborne diseases affecting the people especially children would greatly reduce.
He implored the community leaders in the state to enlighten people especially those living in the rural areas to embrace good sanitation and healthy living, reminding them that diseases rarely occur in a neat environment .
The governor assured them that more public toilets would be built to ensure that open defecation was discouraged.
