Katsina: Federal Medical Center Staff Accused of Favoritism, Patient Maltreatment and Violation of Duty
The patients visiting the accident and emergency unit in the federal medical center Katsina have complained for the total disregard and lack of attention. Some of the patients or their relatives revealed that in many occasions they were being ask to leave the federal medical center no matter the severity of their case, companion FM Katsina Learnt. The companion FM also revealed that the Medical staff are in the habit of not providing first aid assistance or prescriptions of drugs to patients appeared to need urgent medical attention. However when contacted the medical staff of the unit stated that there was no bedding space in the ward the only option is the relatives of the patient to take him/her away.
According to one of the medical personnel the leading procedure of the FMC Katsina was no patient is to be admitted in whatever way no matter the severity of the case if there is no available bedding space even if he or she has the national health insurance scheme. Furthermore companion FM revealed that only the patients or whose relatives that has personal contact with the hospital management are being attended to, but those without personal relationship with the hospital officials are being chase away even at midnight.
