The governor of Katsina State in person of Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has during a Sallah homage visit by the Emir of Katsina Alhaji Abdulmumin Kabir Usman yesterday during the sallah celebration popularly known as ‘Hawan Bariki’ spoke at length on the security issues affecting the state ranging from ‘Kauraye’ menace to cattle rustling and so on and so forth.
The Governor spoke at a length on the activities of Kauraye emanating from drug addiction, adding that the problem had escalated with women joining the drug addiction even in matrimonial homes.
He announced government would continue to evolve reformatory measures to check the negative trend.
To this end, the Governor announced that the federal government had awarded contract for a new prison to be constructed along Jibiya road in kasina metropolis.
Alhaji Aminu Masari noted the effort of security agents in addressing the issue of cattle rustling and other security challenges in the state.
Highlight of the Hawan Bariki was the procession of horse riders by the Emir,District and village heads as well as artisans with various cultural entertainments.
