Katsina State Government is currently in the process of recruiting no fewer than 600 doctors and other health personnel, the state commissioner for health, Hajiya Mariatu Bala Usman, has said.
Speaking during her supervision of the on-going aptitude test of about 1000 shortlisted candidates being conducted at NYSC permanent orientation camp in Katsina metropolis, Usman also said the government is strengthening the capacities of the general hospitals undergoing rehabilitation and upgrading with provision of equipment.
The commissioner, who led a team of top officials of the health ministry to oversee aptitude test being handled by health consultants on behalf of the state Hospital Services Management Board, assured the government’s commitment towards providing qualitative health services to the people.
She said the state government had already commenced the supply of the equipment, adding that plans were underway for all hospitals across the state to be rehabilitated in phases based on extensive assessment of the facilities.
General Manager of the Hospital Services Management Board, Dr. Abduljalid Umar, who said the health personnel to be recruited in the exercise include doctors, pharmacists, radiologists, lab scientists and physiotherapists, further explained that the successful candidates would be deployed to Katsina, Daura, Funtua and other genera hospitals.
Dr. Umar assured that only qualified and competent personnel would be employed in the exercise, saying oral interview would be conducted after the aptitude test to enhance the efficiency of the process.
