An Open Letter to H.E Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, Executive Governor of Katsina State By YUSUF HASSAN
Your Excellency sir, I first of all want to commend your effort on every good thing you’ve done since your assumption of the Governorship seat a Year ago. So much is expected, the eye that has seen 99 can not be afraid of 100. Its quite obvious that what we have today isn’t
what Katsina People were sold during the Campaign. His Excellency, must never forget the faces of those people you met on your campaign trail. If you fail them, they’d have lost faith, not just in you but in their belief and hope that Katsina can indeed be better.
On many occasions, your administration claimed to be transparent, accountable and have respect for the rule of law and yet denied us the major tool we need to access information and justify the true colour of your administration while you are still in office.
Public disclosure is the practice in every democratic setting. The people of the state asked for details, you gave none. The governor now needs to explain to the people what went wrong. How did Katsina get into this financial mess? Masari, as the servant of the people, owes them explanation in this matter.
It is commendable the way your government prioritized the rehabilitation and remodelling of three General Hospitals in Katsina, Daura and Funtua in the last 13 months as Executive Governor. While concerns are being raised about the increased debt profile of the State, it is easily understandable that borrowing is inevitable for Nigerian States to foster development but what is UNACCEPTABLE is when the development and impact is Minimal. If other Governors (not all) can perform relatively well, I don’t understand why your administration is an exception.
Education is one of the sectors that His Excellency pledged to give much attention to. It was interesting that so many restoring infrastructure in our Schools are ongoing, a gesture worthy of commendation but How many teachers have you been able to recruit within the last 13 Months of your administration? Are Issues of promotion, Salaries, annual increment, training and re-training of teachers, timely promotion and non-implementation of teaching allowance addressed? How do you expect a teacher to put in his best in this kind of situation? Surely, the last 12 months that the order of
urgency in Education sector is in the false guise of being part of your RESTORATION AGENDA. The Governor should understand that, the first attempt to addressing the problem of poor state of education in Katsina state begins with improving the welfare of teachers.
Your Excellency Sir, Katsina has the potential to achieve its numerous goals under your government if financial leakages could be curtailed, cut off unnecessary burden on your government, broaden revenue generation, create genuine youth empowerment, reset your dedication to the betterment and the real businesses that matter are faced.
Your Excellency sir, I wish to state clearly that this letter is not in support of any of your opposition but in sole support of what is good for this state. I personally believe we have to grow beyond sentiments about those that govern us if we really want to move in the right direction; I think your administration has performed below what is expected of you. You just must accept things aren’t working.
May Almighty Allah continue to bless our amiable governor with wisdom and noble ideas to move Katsina State to greater heights, Ameen.
I wish you Allah’s guidance as u go through this journey of delivering your campaign promises to our dear Katsina.
God Bless Katsina!
God Bless Nigeria!
