Katsina State House of Assembly has passed a total of 18 bills into law since its inauguration in June last year. Speaker of the Aassembly, Hon Sabiu Ibrahim Muduru stated this yesterday in an interview with newsmen. Muduru also said the house deliberated on 134 motions and passed 77 resolutions within period under review.

The speaker said resolutions passed by the house centred on key sectors including health, agriculture, security, education, infrastructure, youth empowerment and poverty alleviation. He said four bills: establishment of Zakkat and Wagab (religious related); public procurement, fiscal responsibility, and farm settlement centre, were at various stages of legislative processes.

He said the house was able to achieve all it had in the last one year due to the cordial relationship between the legislative and executive arms of government. He said to ensure successful implementation of this year’s budget, the house would ensure early release of funds for projects execution in line with outlined appropriation.

Muduru added that committees overseeing activities of ministries and departments would intensify oversight functions to ensure projects are executed according to contract specifications. He said the house was not unaware of current economic difficulties faced by the common man, even as he called for prayers and understanding from people. He said current economic realities were temporal, and would in no time become thing of the past.
