
Katsina: Federal Agency Submit A Document To Gov’t Predicting Low Rainfall
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has produced a downscaled and customised 2016 Seasonal Rainfall Prediction (SRP) for Katsina State to assist it in planning for agriculture and other rainfall sensitive activities.A statement by issued by NiMet’s Head of Public Relations Unit, Eva Azinge, yesterday in Abuja said the production of the SRP for the state was part of its drive towards the successful implementation of the 2016 SRP at the state level.The statement recalled that the NIMET Director-General, Dr Anthony Anuforom, had indicated during the public presentation of the SRP, that every part of the country was currently experiencing unusual weather pattern due to climate change.Anuforom had said Nigerians, especially the rural farmers who feed the nation, were highly vulnerable to these vagaries of climate.
