Katsina State government is to procure 63 units of transformers worth N209million. A breakdown of the figure showed that each of the transformer would be purchased at the cost of a little above N3.3million.
Addressing newsmen, the state commissioner for Information, Hamza Brodo, in company of his local government and chieftaincy affairs counterpart, Abdulkadir Zakka said the transformers would help boost power supply in the state.
According to the commissioner, the decision to purchase the transformers was reached at the end of the regular executive council meeting, yesterday.
Although Mr Brodo was silent on the specification of the transformer to be purchased, he hinted that the move was in line with the restoration agenda aimed “at replacing damaged transformers”.
“The transformers will boost power supply to the state” the commissioner for information said assuring that it would be distributed across the state.
