Five primary schools in Katsina State has benefited with the donation of school furniture, recreational materials and mathematical kits by UNICEF.
The Unicef chief officer in charge of Kano and Katsina -Mrs Fatima presented the materials to the executive chairman of the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) Alhaji Lawal Buhari Daura.
Mrs Fatima said the gesture is to assist the state towards developing child-centred learning in schools. She then describe teachers as the most influential people in the society while lamenting how they are being neglected.
On his part, the SUBEB Chairman, expressed appreciation with the gesture and urge other donor agencies to emulate. He also disclosed that arrangements are in top gear for the recruitment of qualified teachers which he said will commence ‘soon’.
