The Katsina State chapter of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) has called on commercial banks in the state to establish cash points across the thirty four (34) local governments areas of the state. The state chairman of union -Comrade Siyudi Hassan Dayi made this appeal during a press interview with news men in the state.

This appeal is coming few days after three (3) primary school teachers from Kafin Soli community of Kankia local government lost their lives in a ghastly car accident on their way back home after cashing our their April salary in Katsina metropolis.

The NUT chairman expressed optimism that the measure (of opening the cash points) will go along way in reducing the hardship been experienced by civil servants across the state not only teachers in accessing their salary especially in rural areas and also reduce the risk of road accidents.

According to the chairman, the union had already sent a delegation and condoled the families of the deceased and also sent some money to those injured for their hospital bills.

The union chairman also called on the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to expedite the payment of the deceased entitlements of their gratuity.
