Katsina: National Orientation Agency (NOA) Advised Farmers On Early Planting Ahead Of This Raining Season
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Katsina has advised farmers to use drought resistant seedlings and embark on early planting of crops in the current farming season. According to the agency, this is due to the prediction of Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency that most parts of the country will experience less rain fall and delayed raining season this year.
This advise is contained in a statement signed by the Public Relation Officer of the Katsina State Directorate of NOA -Malam Mustapha Labbo. The statement further explained that the Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency has predicted the early withdrawal of rainfall which could lead to non ripening of late planted crops.
He therefore urged the government, media and other influential persons to enlighten the general public to avoid food shortage and subsequent famine.
The statement also advised the government to provide the fertiliser and other farm utilities to farmers early to enable them plant their crops in good time.
