Katsina state government says it remain committed towards curtailing unemployment and reducing poverty among the teaming youths of the state.
The commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs -Alhaji Abdulkadir Ahmad Zakka made this known during a meeting with the committee constituted by the government to verify the number of jobless graduates across the state.
The commissioner said the policy is timely because the number jobless youths in the state -which also culminated to the increase of societal crimes and restlessness is high. He further stated that “the aim of the program is to verify the total number of the jobless graduate and other secondary school certificate holders for necessary action. He then urged all Directors for local governments administration and supply of the 34 local governments in the state to give their maximum support and cooperation for the success of the committee.
In his remark, the chairman of the committee Alhaji Husaini Adamu Karadua said the committee has ten (10) members. The chairman also stated that the committee members will be divided into three (3) groups so as to cover the senatorial zones of the state concurrently and that forms will be distributed for youth to fill where they will give their comprehensive date.
He further stated that youths are the backbone of any society hence the need for them to become self reliant and useful members of the society. He also stated that the committee will sensitize and seek for the cooperation of village heads and district heads for the success of their task.
