The much awaited local council elections in Katsina State would hold before the end of this year, speaker of Katsina State House of Assembly, Aliyu Sabiu Muduru has said.
Addressing newsmen when he featured as guest at the Katsina NUJ media chat, Muduru said concerted efforts are being made to ensure quick conduct of the polls.
“A committee has been constituted and the committee has gone far in its work as far as the conduct of the local government elections is concerned. We are committed to ensuring conduct of a hitch-free and credible poll,” Muduru said.
The speaker said from inauguration of the Assembly in June last year to date, it has passed so many motions and made numerous resolutions in line with the manifestoes of the ruling APC.
“We are acting steadily to redefine business of lawmaking in Katsina State and we have made laws and resolutions that touched different areas of the state all in a bid to ensure growth and development of our dear state.” He said the current Assembly was poised to ensuring strict adherance to its business of lawmaking, and oversight noting “different committees have had cause to visit different project sites, interact with MDAs and others in the discharge of our oversight functions”.
