The first confirmed case of Lassa fever has been recorded in Katsina. The state’s commissioner for health Hajiya Mariya Bala Usman stated this while briefing the newsmen on the outcome of the test conducted.
The health’s commissioner added that 18 people are now under surveillance and was isolated at Babbabr ruga isolation center. She said several suspected cases were recorded in the state however proved negative.
The commissioner regained that the deceased was a residence of Kaduna and brought his corps to his hometown Kankara were he was buried. The commissioner reassured that there is collaboration between the State’s ministry of health, Federal ministry of health, National centre for disease control and World Health Organization in containing the deadly disease.
She however called on the general public to always seek for health personnel advice while they felt abnormal.
